Research Assistant in Neuroscience and Behavior
Location: Columbia University Medical Center
Are you a recent college graduate looking to expand your research skills before moving on to graduate or medical school? Are you excited about research? Do you want to join a laboratory dedicated to studying learning and motivation?
We have an opening for a research assistant to become a member of our research group. The research assistant is responsible for performing behavioral testing in rodents, analysis of data, maintenance of testing equipment, and other general lab duties. In addition to performing the experiments, you will also have the opportunity for publication and presentation of the results at scientific conferences. Ongoing research in our lab includes both systemic and local pharmacology, as well as testing of transgenic models and molecular analysis of behavior.
Qualifications:
* A recent college degree in Neuroscience and Behavior, Psychology or Biology
* Experience with behavioral testing using rats and/or mice.
* Experience with procedures such as systemic injection, stereotaxic surgery, microinjection, histological analysis of brain tissue, and/or other similar procedures.
* Computer programming experience, or willingness to learn, is a plus.
* 2 year commitment required
